Internship helped me a lot....!!!!!!!!

She is bold, she is upfront, she is audacious at times yet a small looking Bhagyashri Gupta has a lot in her to get placed in ICICI Securities. Termed as a “Chotta-packet” she was eager to have a place in one of the most reputed banking brands of the country and when she did that, pleasantness prevailed on her face.

She waited long, is a good competitor with high spirits and although the success came late to her, it has happened according to her wish. In a recent conversation, I got along with her to talk something about her accomplishment……….. Here are the excerpts…….

1. As of now you are placed, what you feel was missing on previous occasions having said that you have all the essentials to get placed?

It was a long wait to get what I wanted. The situation was very confusing as I was not in a mood to compromise in terms of location and bond. So, when you sit in a company you must be clear about everything. My mistake was that I was tensed on previous companies as those were not according to my dream.

2. What the profile is all about at ICICI Securities?

The profile is of management trainee and is primarily marketing based. I would be advising and referring to various financial products to invest in to clients. It is a bit of challenging profile but once you establish yourself, perks can be sumptuous.

3. You did your internship in ICICI Securities. How that experience came handy in your selection?

Internship gave me a fair bit of idea about how their business works. It was a lot of hard work initially but once I got the knowledge of system, I became familiar with the environment. The experience helped me to a great extent as I was aware in advance as to what they can ask and how to tackle the interview. They checked me that whether I am aware about the working of ICICI Securities and once I did that, things became easier for me.

4. Throw some light on key points for Group Discussion and Interview?

To crack Group Discussion, one must have good thought process and excellent communication skills to put forward the points. Equal chances must be given to other for speaking also which shows your listening capabilities.
For interview, you must be frank, extrovert and talkative. Interview is a mixture of natural and diplomatic points and a good balance between them ensures success.
Apart from that, on an individual level you must have the eagerness to grow, inclination towards meeting new set of people and a positive attitude.

5. Regarding technical knowledge, how you prepared and what are the key points to be focused on?

I had started my preparation in October and focused on every important subject of finance. I started with accounts, Financial Management, Insurance, Banking and then Indian Financial System. Although it is not necessary to go deep into it but basics form the fabric of your knowledge and I used Investopedia for improving my basics.
6. Where do you think JUNIORS should focus on at present?

Management course is all about mixture of excellent communication skills, sound technical knowledge and market awareness. Juniors must heavily focus on communication skills since if you are not able to speak properly, remaining things are redundant.

Be very specific about profile, have a positive attitude and help others’ in their preparation too.
